Recent News

After a summer of being in bed (mostly) -- or, to be honest -- on the sofa with my back issues, I am finally up and about. I find myself so horribly behind, however. It's taken weeks of pushing myself pretty hard in order to get somewhere near caught up. But I'm getting there.

At one point in my "summer of discontent," I asked the Lord "WHY??" and "What, Lord, are you trying to teach me?" I certainly found that my time with God and in His Word was growing to a new intimacy. Then, He led me to Isaiah 30:15.

This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

I knew, having read these words, that though I thought I'd been keeping Shabbat, I had fooled myself. I love my work ... so "working" doesn't seem like work. But God calls us to rest one day a week. God says, "Chill or I'll chill ya..." and so He did. I was forced to rest ... and rest and rest and rest.

I pray I never have to learn this lesson again. I have come to realize the importance of just chillin' one day a week. It's just a day. But to God, it is an important day.

Karen Whiting's "Secrets of Success; Time" Here's a little about the book:

For women drowning in busyness, this handy little gem is a lifeline. It encourages people to streamline routines, and make wiser time choices that are more fruitful, joyful, and of greater significance.  The book is small enough to tuck in a purse or day planner, yet big enough in content to provide creative solutions for a simpler, yet more productive life. Every two pages covers a different topic related to time.
Topics include seven stress busters, the art of delegating, overcoming procrastination, saying, “No” graciously, setting and achieving goals, eliminating time wasters, and balancing time.

Let Us Pray

Prayers please for myself and the six others who will travel to Israel in November. Pray for my husband and daughter who will be left at home to fend for themselves. (LOL) And bevakasha (please), shalu sh'lom Yerushalayim (pray for the peace of Jerusalem). May those who love her, prosper. (Psalm 122:6)

Toda and Shalom!
