Summer's End 2008

Recent News

Summer is drawing to a close! It's August (my birthday month!) and soon school will resume.

It's been a quiet summer here. A little biking, a little swiming, a little travel. Mostly staying "closeta home" as we say in the south, working from the home office. I went to Georgia to spend time with family and friends, did some research for my next project, etc.

The most dramatic thing that has occurred in our family is my husband's "cardiac event" and heart surgery. He's fine now. We're fine now. But it was a pretty scary time. Now we are all about getting heart healthy.

Update From My Desk

I am excited about three books about to be released.

          1. Reflections of God's Holy Land; A Personal Journey Through Israel will be released in August by Thomas Nelson/Nelson Bibles. This has been the book of my heart for years! Please take a moment to check it out. Cowritten with Miriam Feinberg Vamosh.

          2. The Potluck Catering Club: The Secret's In the Sauce should be out any second by Baker Publishing Group/Revell. Yep, the girls of the Potluck Club are at it again in a whole new series! Cowritten with Linda Evans Shepherd.

          3. Word Weavers: The Story of a Successful Writers Critique Group by Winepress Publishing. After years of being asked about the success of Word Weavers (of which I was president of for six years), I decided to put the words in my mouth on paper. Cowritten with Janice Elsheimer.

Let Us Pray

Pray for Milton Dykes. His wife--my friend Kristy--lost a battle with brain cancer but won the war of life. She is with Jesus now but Milton is left here, missing her terribly. If you'd like to know more, go to Christian Love Stories.

Would you pray for my ministry as well. God knows what I need. He is my Jehovah Jireh, the Lord my Provider. Thank you.

Travels with Mr. Bear
Mr. Bear Goes to Thomas Nelson
Naturally Mr. Bear accompanied me to the offices of Thomas Nelson Publishers in Nashville TN where I recorded a 45 minute presentation on the concept, writing, and photographing of Reflections of God's Holy Land.
Mr. Bear in front of the Green Screen
There was a green screen behind me during the filming so as to add photos to the film later. Mr. Bear wanted HIS 15 minutes of fame, too.
My Editor from Nelson & Me
The editor extraordinare from Thomas Nelson for Reflections of God's Holy Land: Ramona Richards.
Mr. Bear At Ramona's Desk
Mr. Bear thought he'd check his email while so close to a computer. (I'm kidding of course...he doesn't have an email account!)
Jordynn at ICRS
This was taken at the Munce Group booth.
Jordynn at Pearl Girl Tea
Jordynn experienced a nice tea presented by The Pearl Girls at The Peabody Hotel. We were met by the glorious music of a harpist.
Jordynn & Author/Speaker Vonda Skelton
Vonda--who I'm honored to call "friend"--has prayed for Jordynn for years! They met for the first time at ICRS. It was really cool.
Our Little One Graduates From 4th Grade
Jordynn always makes me proud. Another milestone in her little life.
